What is Tether Wallet?

Tether Wallet is a digital wallet app that allows the user to store, send, and receive digital currencies including USDt, XAUt, Bitcoin, and USAt.

Tether Wallet is a self-custody wallet, meaning the user controls access to Tether Wallet. The wallet is created on the device, and only the user holds the keys. Every transaction is approved directly on the device before reaching the blockchain. Nothing leaves the phone without explicit approval.

How do I create a new Tether Wallet?

To create a new Tether Wallet:

STEP 1: Download the app from the official iOS App Store or Google Play Store.

STEP 2: Open the app and select Create a New Wallet.

STEP 3: Enter an email address, agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement, and tap Continue.

STEP 4: Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to the email and select Continue.

STEP 5: Choose a unique Tether.me username.

STEP 6: Choose to back up the wallet to the cloud or select Not Now.

STEP 7: Choose to enable biometric authentication or select Not Now.

The wallet is now ready to use.

How do I log in to my existing Tether Wallet with email?

To log in to an existing Tether Wallet using email:

STEP 1: Download the latest version of the app from the official stores if not already installed.

STEP 2: Open the app and choose Log in to existing Wallet.

STEP 3: Select Login with Email.

STEP 4: Enter the email address or Tether.me username and tap Continue.

STEP 5: Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to the email and tap Continue.

STEP 6: The app will try to restore the wallet from the encrypted cloud backup. On Android, the app may ask to choose which Google Account to use. Select the same Google Account that was used when the backup was created. On iPhone, the same iCloud account must be active.

If cloud restore does not succeed, the app will ask for the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase to restore the wallet.

What happens if my wallet does not restore automatically after logging in?

If the wallet does not restore automatically after logging in with email, the app will ask for the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase. This happens when cloud backup is not available - for example if the user skipped backup during setup, or if the device is signed into a different cloud account.

To complete the restore: enter all 12 words of the Secret Recovery Phrase in the exact original order and tap restore.

IMPORTANT: There is no separate login method using only the Secret Recovery Phrase. The user always starts by entering the email and verification code. The Secret Recovery Phrase is only requested as a second step if the cloud backup cannot be found.

What is a Tether.me username and how does a Tether.me username work?

A Tether.me username is a unique personal payment address chosen during wallet setup, in the format username@tether.me (not an email address). Other Tether Wallet users can send any supported currency by entering the Tether.me username instead of a long wallet address.

Tether.me usernames are unique and allow the user to receive different supported tokens (USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin) using a single identifier that is easy to remember.

Username rules: must be at least 4 characters, must contain at least one letter, only lowercase letters and digits are allowed.

Permanence: the Tether.me username cannot be changed after creation. The Tether.me username cannot be separated from the account and email used when the Tether.me username was created. The Tether.me username cannot be reused on a new account. Choose the Tether.me username carefully during setup.

Can I receive money from other wallets using my Tether.me username?

The Tether.me username is powered by the LNURL Protocol and can send and receive Bitcoin via Lightning Network from and to any other lightning address from LNURL-supported wallets around the world.

In the future, more "Tethered Wallets" will allow users to seamlessly send and receive all supported assets (USDt, USAt, and XAUt) across different wallets. For now, all supported assets only work between Tether Wallet users with Tether.me usernames, and Bitcoin works across any LNURL-supported wallet with a lightning address.

Currently, the Tether.me address can be used to send or receive Bitcoin with users on the following platforms: Wallet of Satoshi, Xapo Bank, Blink, Bitcoin Jungle, Alby, MistyBreez, Glow, BlueWallet, Phoenix Wallet, Zeus, and Manchakura.

NOTE: This list is not exhaustive. There are many other LNURL-compatible wallets available. Tether will continue to update the list as more wallets are discovered.

What do I need to create a Tether Wallet account?

To create a Tether Wallet account, the user needs: a mobile device running iOS or Android, any active email address (personal or work email both work), and an internet connection.

During setup, the user must agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement, verify the email address with a 6-digit code, and choose a Tether.me username.

No government ID, KYC documents, or bank account information is required. Any valid email address that can receive automated messages will work for registration.

The app will recommend enabling cloud backup and biometric authentication, but cloud backup and biometric authentication can be set up later from Settings.

What is a Secret Recovery Phrase?

A Secret Recovery Phrase is a set of 12 words generated when the wallet is created. The Secret Recovery Phrase is the master key to the wallet and the only way to restore access if the device is lost or replaced.

The Secret Recovery Phrase exists only on the device and in any offline copy the user makes (such as written on paper). The Secret Recovery Phrase is never stored on Tether servers, never stored in iCloud or Google Drive, and never transmitted over the internet in readable form.

No one at Tether can look up, reset, or recover the Secret Recovery Phrase. If the Secret Recovery Phrase is lost and no cloud backup exists, the funds cannot be recovered by anyone.

WARNING: The user should treat the Secret Recovery Phrase like the key to a safe.

How do I view my Secret Recovery Phrase in the app?

To view the Secret Recovery Phrase:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Security (the second option in the menu).

STEP 3: Tap Recovery Phrase.

STEP 4: The 12 words will be displayed with masked characters.

STEP 5: Tap Show to reveal the words.

STEP 6: Tap Copy to copy the Secret Recovery Phrase to the clipboard.

IMPORTANT: After copying, store the Secret Recovery Phrase securely offline and clear the clipboard. Tap Back to home when done.

How should I protect my Secret Recovery Phrase?

To protect the Secret Recovery Phrase:

Write the Secret Recovery Phrase down offline using pen and paper. NEVER take a photo, type the Secret Recovery Phrase into a notes app, or save the Secret Recovery Phrase to a cloud service. Hackers scan for images and text files that look like recovery phrases.

No legitimate company, support agent, or website will ever ask for the Secret Recovery Phrase. If anyone asks for the Secret Recovery Phrase, the request is a scam.

Store the written Secret Recovery Phrase in two separate secure physical locations such as a home safe and a bank deposit box.

For long-term security, some people use metal backup plates made of stainless steel or titanium.

What is Cloud Backup and how does Cloud Backup work?

Cloud Backup protects wallet access using a two-part encryption system. Here is exactly how Cloud Backup works:

STEP 1: The app generates a special encryption key on the device.

STEP 2: The app uses the encryption key to encrypt the wallet data.

STEP 3: The encrypted wallet data goes to Tether servers.

STEP 4: The encryption key goes to the personal cloud account (iCloud on iPhone or Google Drive on Android).

IMPORTANT: The Secret Recovery Phrase is NOT stored in the cloud and is NOT stored on Tether servers. Only the encryption key is in the cloud, and only the encrypted data is on Tether servers. Neither party can access the wallet alone. Both parts are needed together and are only combined on the device during login.

How do I enable or manage Cloud Backup?

Cloud Backup can be enabled during initial wallet setup or later from Settings. To manage Cloud Backup:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Settings.

STEP 3: Under the profile section, tap the backup information area.

STEP 4: The user can see the current backup status, which cloud account and platform were last used, and the date of the last backup. From this screen, the user can make changes or re-run the backup.

When Cloud Backup is enabled, encrypted wallet data is stored on Tether servers and only the encryption key is saved to iCloud or Google Drive. The Secret Recovery Phrase itself is not uploaded anywhere.

WARNING: If the user loses the device and does not have the Secret Recovery Phrase or Cloud Backup, access to funds is lost permanently.

How do I restore my wallet from Cloud Backup on a new device?

To restore from Cloud Backup:

STEP 1: Install the Tether Wallet app on the new device.

STEP 2: Select Log in to existing Wallet.

STEP 3: Select Login with Email.

STEP 4: Enter the registered email address and the 6-digit verification code.

STEP 5: The app will try to restore the wallet automatically. On Android, the app may ask to choose a Google Account from those signed in on the device. Select the same Google Account used during the original backup. On iPhone, make sure the same iCloud account is active.

IMPORTANT: If the correct cloud account is not available on the device, the app will ask for the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase instead.

What should I do if Cloud Backup restore is not working?

If Cloud Backup restore fails on a new device, try these troubleshooting steps in order:

STEP 1: Verify the correct cloud account is active on the device. On iPhone, check that the same iCloud account used during backup is signed in. On Android, check that the same Google Account is active. The app may ask to choose from multiple signed-in accounts.

STEP 2: The app will show which cloud account and platform were last used for the backup, along with the date. Match this information to the account on the device.

STEP 3: Ensure the device has a stable internet connection and try again.

STEP 4: On Android, try signing out and back into the correct Google Account.

ONLY if all steps above fail: the app will ask for the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase as a fallback.

What is Biometric Authentication in Tether Wallet?

Biometric Authentication allows the user to use device biometrics for a faster and more secure login experience.

On iOS, Biometric Authentication means Face ID or Touch ID. On Android, the available biometric method depends on the specific device hardware. Most Android devices support fingerprint authentication. Some newer Android devices also offer face recognition, but the security level varies by brand and model.

Fingerprint is generally the most reliable and secure biometric method on Android. Biometric Authentication can be enabled during wallet setup or later from the Security menu.

How do I enable or disable Biometric Authentication?

To manage Biometric Authentication:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Security.

STEP 3: Toggle the Biometric Authentication option on or off.

When Biometric Authentication is enabled, the app will use the biometric method available on the device (Face ID on iPhone, fingerprint or face recognition on Android depending on the device).

IMPORTANT: Biometric Authentication is an additional convenience layer. Biometric Authentication does not replace email verification or the Secret Recovery Phrase. If biometric fails, the user can still log in using standard methods.

How can I identify and avoid scams targeting Tether Wallet users?

Tether Wallet does not offer investment advice services. Tether will not contact the user directly to offer services.

WARNING: No legitimate Tether representative will EVER ask for the Secret Recovery Phrase, cloud backup encryption details, or payment. If anyone contacts the user claiming to be Tether support and requests this information, the contact is a scam. Do not respond.

Only interact with Tether Wallet through the official app and the support section accessible via the top-right menu.

What are Wallet Drainer scams and how do I avoid Wallet Drainer scams?

Wallet Drainer scams involve fake websites offering free airdrops, NFT mints, or other incentives. When the user connects a wallet and approves a transaction on these sites, a malicious contract may gain permission to empty the entire balance.

To stay safe:

Only connect the wallet to websites that are 100% trusted.

NEVER approve transaction requests from unknown or unverified sources.

NEVER click links in unsolicited messages claiming to offer free tokens or rewards.

If in doubt, do not approve the transaction.

What should I do if my device is stolen or compromised?

If the device is stolen or compromised:

STEP 1: If possible, use another device to log into the wallet and transfer remaining funds to a new wallet immediately.

STEP 2: Create a new wallet with a new Secret Recovery Phrase on a secure device.

STEP 3: Do not reuse the old Secret Recovery Phrase, as the old Secret Recovery Phrase may be compromised.

STEP 4: If the user no longer has access to the funds, there is unfortunately no way for Tether to recover the funds, as the wallet is self-custody.

WARNING: Speed is critical. The sooner funds are moved to a new wallet, the better. This is why keeping the Secret Recovery Phrase stored safely offline is essential.

How do I delete my Tether Wallet account?

To delete a Tether Wallet account:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Security.

STEP 3: Tap Delete Account.

STEP 4: A confirmation screen will appear warning that the deletion process will be initiated. Select Yes, I want to delete my account to confirm, or Cancel to go back.

WARNING: Before deleting, transfer any remaining funds out of the wallet and write down the Secret Recovery Phrase. Once the account is deleted, the encrypted cloud backup stored on Tether servers will no longer be accessible. This action is permanent.

IMPORTANT: Once an account is deleted, the email address that was used to create the account cannot be reused to register a new Tether Wallet account. The Tether.me username associated with the deleted account cannot be reused on a new account. To use Tether Wallet again, a new account must be created with a different email address.

How do I send funds from my Tether Wallet?

To send funds from Tether Wallet:

STEP 1: Tap the Send button at the bottom of the home screen.

STEP 2: Add the recipient by entering a Tether.me username (for any supported currency), a blockchain wallet address, or scanning a QR code. Tap Continue.

STEP 3: Review the network information displayed under the recipient details.

STEP 4: Enter the amount to send and tap Continue.

STEP 5: Review all transaction details on the confirmation screen including the network fee and tap Confirm and Send.

WARNING: BLOCKCHAIN TRANSACTIONS CANNOT BE REVERSED ONCE CONFIRMED. Always double-check the recipient and network before sending.

Can I send funds using a Tether.me username instead of a wallet address?

Yes. To send any supported currency to another Tether Wallet user using a Tether.me username:

STEP 1: Tap Send on the home screen.

STEP 2: Enter the recipient Tether.me username (for example, @username).

STEP 3: Tap Continue.

STEP 4: Choose the currency to send. The Tether.me username feature works for all supported currencies: USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin. The Tether.me username feature is not limited to USDt.

STEP 5: Enter the amount and tap Continue.

STEP 6: Review the transaction details and tap Confirm and Send.

Using a Tether.me username eliminates the need for long blockchain addresses and reduces the risk of sending to a wrong address.

How do I send funds to an external wallet or address?

To send funds to an external wallet or service:

STEP 1: Tap Send on the home screen.

STEP 2: Enter the blockchain wallet address or scan a QR code.

STEP 3: Tap Continue.

STEP 4: Carefully review the network information. The sending and receiving networks MUST match.

STEP 5: Enter the amount and tap Continue.

STEP 6: Review all details including the network fee and tap Confirm and Send.

WARNING: SENDING TOKENS TO AN ADDRESS ON THE WRONG NETWORK CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF FUNDS. Always confirm the network with the recipient before sending.

What is the Send Max feature?

The Send Max feature allows the user to send the entire balance of a selected currency. When Send Max is used, the network fee is deducted from the amount being sent.

This means the recipient will receive slightly less than the full balance. The confirmation screen will clearly show the amount the recipient will receive, the network fee, and the total cost before the transaction is approved.

Send Max is useful when the user wants to empty a wallet of a specific currency.

What happens after I send a transaction?

After confirming a send transaction, the app will display the current status of the transaction along with details such as the transaction ID, estimated fees, and expected arrival time.

The user can either select Close to return to the main screen or select View the Transaction on Explorer to track the transaction on the blockchain.

Transaction processing times depend on the network used and current network congestion. The transaction status can also be reviewed later from the Transactions history.

How do I receive funds into my Tether Wallet?

To receive funds in Tether Wallet:

STEP 1: Tap the Receive button at the bottom-left of the home screen.

STEP 2: The Receive screen has two tabs. The Blockchains tab allows manually selecting a currency and network to generate a unique receiving address and QR code. The tether.me Username tab displays the personal tether.me address and QR code for receiving from other Tether Wallet users.

STEP 3: For external wallets, use the Blockchains tab: select currency, then select network. The address and QR code appear.

STEP 4: Tap Copy or Share to provide the address to the sender.

IMPORTANT: Double-check that the currency and network match between sender and receiver.

How do I receive funds from another Tether Wallet user?

To receive funds from another Tether Wallet user, share the Tether.me username (for example, @username) with the sender. The sender enters the Tether.me username in the sender app, selects the currency and amount, and sends.

No long blockchain addresses are needed when both parties use Tether Wallet. The Tether.me username feature works for all supported currencies (USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin).

The transaction will appear in the wallet once the sender confirms the transaction.

How do I receive funds from an external wallet or exchange?

To receive from an external wallet or exchange:

STEP 1: Tap Receive and go to the Blockchains tab.

STEP 2: Select the currency to receive.

STEP 3: Select the correct network from the network options.

WARNING: THE NETWORK MUST MATCH THE NETWORK THE SENDER IS USING.

STEP 4: The wallet address and QR code will appear on screen. Share the address or QR code with the sender.

STEP 5: Wait for the blockchain to process the transaction.

IMPORTANT: Double-check that the currency, contract address, and blockchain details match between sender and receiver. Incorrect information can lead to permanently lost deposits.

What should I do if my deposit has not arrived?

If a deposit has not appeared in the wallet:

STEP 1: Confirm the correct network was used on both the sending and receiving sides. The networks must match.

STEP 2: Ask the sender for the transaction ID and look up the transaction ID on a blockchain explorer to check if the transaction has been processed.

STEP 3: Note that processing times vary: Bitcoin can take 10 minutes to over an hour, Ethereum usually takes a few minutes, Lightning is nearly instant.

STEP 4: Ensure the correct wallet address was used. If the deposit was sent on the wrong network or to an incorrect address, the funds may not be recoverable.

If the explorer shows the transaction as completed but the transaction does not appear in the wallet, try closing and reopening the app.

What are network fees and who charges network fees?

Tether Wallet does not charge any fees for sending or receiving. However, every blockchain transaction requires a small network fee (sometimes called a gas fee).

The network fee does not go to Tether. The network fee is paid to the network that processes the transaction. Fee amounts vary depending on which network is used and how busy the network is at the time.

Before confirming any transaction, the app will always show the exact fee, the amount the recipient will receive, and the total cost, both in the token being sent and in the US dollar equivalent. There are no hidden charges.

Why do network fees vary between transactions?

Network fees vary because network fees depend on the network used and how busy the network is. When many people are sending transactions at the same time, fees tend to be higher. When the network is less busy, fees are lower.

Different networks also have different fee levels. Generally, Lightning and Spark, Polygon, and Arbitrum tend to have lower fees, while standard Bitcoin and Ethereum fees can be higher during busy periods.

The app always displays the current fee before the user confirms the transaction, so there are no surprises.

How do I view my transaction history?

To view transaction history: From the home screen, tap Transactions (accessible from the home screen below the balance, or from the top-right menu).

The Transactions screen will show the latest transactions sorted by date. Each transaction displays an icon indicating the currency, the transaction type (Sent, Received, or Buy), and the amount.

To see more details, tap on any individual transaction and a pop-up will appear with all information including the transaction ID, status, fees, and other details. For a Buy transaction, the details also show the provider used, the asset received, and the date and time of the purchase.

How do I filter my transaction history?

Transaction history can be filtered by date, currency, or type. From the Transactions screen, tap the filter options at the top:

Date allows filtering by Last Week, Last Month, or Custom date range with specific start and end dates.

Currency allows filtering by a specific token.

Type allows filtering by sent or received transactions.

Multiple filters can be applied at the same time. To remove a filter, tap on the active filter tag to deselect the filter.

What do transaction statuses mean in Tether Wallet?

Transaction statuses in Tether Wallet:

In Progress means the transaction has been sent to the network and is being processed. This is normal and the time depends on how busy the network is.

Failed means the transaction did not go through. Failure can happen if there was not enough balance to cover both the amount and the network fee, or if there was a network issue. When a transaction fails, the funds (minus any fee already used) should stay in the wallet.

Completed means the transaction is finished and cannot be changed.

If a transaction shows In Progress for a long time, the network may be busy.

How do I view my total balance and portfolio?

The Total Wallet Balance is displayed on the home screen showing the combined value of all assets in the selected default currency.

Below the balance, tap Portfolio to see the Asset Breakdown showing each currency held, the amount, and the current market value.

For more detail on a specific asset, tap on the asset to see total holdings, distribution across different chains, wallet addresses with funds, and the latest transactions for that asset.

Can I hide my wallet balance for privacy?

Yes. The user can hide the Total Wallet Balance by tapping the Total Wallet Balance label on the home screen.

This is a privacy feature that allows the user to open and use the app in public without displaying the total value of assets. Tap the Total Wallet Balance label again to reveal the balance.

Hiding the balance does not affect any functionality. The user can still send, receive, and manage funds normally while the balance is hidden.

What is USDt (Tether USDt)?

USDt (Tether USDt) is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, backed by Tether reserves. USDt is the most widely used stablecoin in the world.

USDt provides a stable digital dollar for sending and receiving value without the price volatility of other cryptocurrencies.

In Tether Wallet, USDt is available on the following networks: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Plasma, and Tron.

In the app, USDt may be referred to as a Digital Dollar.

What is XAUt (Tether Gold)?

XAUt (Tether Gold) is a digital asset offered by TG Commodities Limited. Each full XAUt token represents one troy fine ounce of physical gold held in secure vaults on a London Good Delivery bar.

XAUt can be divided into smaller units called Scudo, where 1 Scudo equals 1/1000 of an XAUt (Gold Ounce). This allows the user to hold and transfer fractional amounts of gold.

In Tether Wallet, XAUt is available on the following networks: Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, and Arbitrum.

What is USAt?

USAt is a federally regulated stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, launched by Tether in January 2026. Designed specifically for the US market, USAt operates under the GENIUS Act (2025) and is issued by the federally chartered Anchorage Digital Bank.

USAt is fully compliant with American banking standards, with transparent reserves verified by independent audits.

In Tether Wallet, USAt is available on the Ethereum network.

In the Tether Wallet app, USAt may be referred to as a Digital Dollar.

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin (BTC) is the original and most widely known cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is a digital currency that allows people to send money directly to each other without a bank or middleman.

In Tether Wallet, Bitcoin is available in two modes: standard Bitcoin (on-chain) for regular transfers, and Bitcoin Lightning on the Spark protocol for faster, lower-cost transfers.

Standard Bitcoin is typically used for larger amounts, while Lightning on Spark is ideal for smaller, everyday payments. The app will show both options when sending or receiving Bitcoin.

What currencies and networks does Tether Wallet support?

Tether Wallet supports the following currencies and networks only:

USDt on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Plasma, and Tron.

XAUt on Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, and Arbitrum.

USAt on Ethereum.

Bitcoin on standard Bitcoin (on-chain) and Bitcoin Lightning on Spark.

IMPORTANT: No other tokens or networks are supported. If someone sends an unsupported token (such as ETH or USDC) to a Tether Wallet address, those tokens will not appear in the app. Both sender and receiver must use the same network for a transfer to succeed.

What happens if I send tokens on the wrong network?

WARNING: SENDING TOKENS ON THE WRONG NETWORK CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF FUNDS.

Before sending, always verify that the network selected in Tether Wallet matches the network expected by the recipient. The app displays the network information on the confirmation screen.

If tokens were accidentally sent on the wrong network between Ethereum, Polygon, or Arbitrum, recovery may be possible because these networks share the same address system. The user would need to access the receiving wallet on the correct network to find the tokens. However, recovery requires technical steps and is not guaranteed.

IMPORTANT: Always double-check the network before confirming.

How do I know which network to select when sending or receiving?

When sending to another Tether Wallet user via Tether.me username, the network is handled automatically. No network selection is needed.

When sending to an external wallet or exchange: confirm which network the recipient expects. Both sides must use the same network. If the user is unsure, check with the recipient before sending.

When receiving from an external source: select the same network the sender will use and share the correct address.

Network selection matters most for external transfers. For transfers between Tether Wallet users, Tether.me usernames make transfers simple.

What is the Lightning Network and Spark for Bitcoin?

The Lightning Network is a faster way to send and receive Bitcoin. Standard Bitcoin transactions are processed directly on the Bitcoin blockchain and can take 10 minutes or more.

In Tether Wallet, Lightning Bitcoin runs on the Spark protocol, a Bitcoin Layer 2 network optimized for instant, low-cost payments. Spark transactions settle in under one second with zero network fees for Spark-to-Spark transfers.

Sending from Spark to a standard Lightning invoice incurs a small routing fee (typically 0.15 to 0.25 percent). Spark is fully non-custodial and interoperable with the broader Lightning Network.

Lightning on Spark is best for smaller, everyday payments. Standard Bitcoin is typically used for larger amounts.

How do I access and manage Tether Wallet settings?

To access Settings: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon. The menu displays four options: Transactions, Security, Settings, and Support. Tap Settings.

In Settings, the user can: see the profile information including the Tether.me username and registered email address, manage backup status, change the app theme, change the language, set the default display currency, access FAQs, and view the current app version.

The Log out button is at the bottom of the Settings screen.

How do I change the app theme, language, or default currency?

In Settings:

Theme allows choosing between Light, Dark, or System to match the device settings.

Language allows selecting the preferred app language.

Default Currency sets which currency is used to display all values and balances.

These settings can be changed at any time from the Settings menu without affecting wallet functionality or balances.

What should I do if the app is not loading or keeps crashing?

If the Tether Wallet app is not loading or crashing:

STEP 1: Force close the app completely and reopen the app.

STEP 2: Check that the device has a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).

STEP 3: Verify the app is updated to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.

STEP 4: Restart the device.

STEP 5: If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app.

WARNING: Before reinstalling, ensure Cloud Backup is enabled or the Secret Recovery Phrase is saved. Reinstalling without a backup will require manual recovery.

I am not receiving the 6-digit verification code email. What should I do?

If the 6-digit verification email is not arriving:

STEP 1: Check the spam or junk folder in the email inbox.

STEP 2: Wait a few minutes as email delivery can be delayed.

STEP 3: Verify the correct email address was entered.

STEP 4: Try requesting a new code after the countdown timer expires.

STEP 5: Check that the email provider is not blocking automated emails (some corporate email filters block automated emails).

STEP 6: Try using a different email address if the issue persists.

IMPORTANT: The verification code expires after a set time. Always use the most recently requested code.

Why does my balance show a different amount than expected?

If the wallet balance appears incorrect:

First, check the default display currency in Settings. If the user recently changed the default display currency, amounts will be shown in the new currency equivalent.

Second, check whether the balance is hidden (tap Total Wallet Balance on the home screen to toggle visibility).

Third, check the Portfolio view for the exact breakdown across networks. Some assets may be distributed across multiple networks and the total combines all of the assets.

Fourth, allow time for recent transactions to fully confirm on the blockchain. Pending transactions may not be reflected in the balance until confirmed.

A transaction shows Failed in my history. What does Failed mean?

A Failed transaction means the transaction was not completed by the blockchain. Common reasons include:

Insufficient balance to cover both the amount and the network fee.

The network fee changing between the time the transaction was submitted and when the transaction was processed.

A temporary network issue.

When a transaction fails, the funds should remain in the wallet (excluding any network fee that was consumed during the attempt). The user can check the balance and retry the transaction.

If the issue repeats, try waiting for network congestion to decrease or select a different network if available for that currency.

A transaction shows In Progress for a long time. Is this normal?

A transaction showing In Progress means the transaction has been sent to the network but has not finished processing yet. Whether the wait time is normal depends on the network:

Lightning on Spark transfers are nearly instant, so any delay is unusual.

Polygon and Arbitrum usually finish within seconds.

Ethereum usually takes a few minutes, so 10 to 20 minutes suggests the network is busy.

Standard Bitcoin takes roughly 10 minutes, so waiting up to an hour during busy periods is within the normal range.

The user can tap the transaction to see details or check a blockchain explorer. Waiting is usually the best action.

What should I do if Biometric Authentication is not working?

If Biometric Authentication is not working:

STEP 1: Ensure biometrics are properly set up in the device settings (not just the app).

STEP 2: On iOS, check that Face ID is enabled for Tether Wallet in the device Settings under Face ID and Passcode. On Android, verify the fingerprint or face recognition method is registered in device settings.

STEP 3: Try disabling and re-enabling Biometric Authentication in the Tether Wallet Security menu.

STEP 4: Restart the device.

STEP 5: Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.

IMPORTANT: Biometric failure does not lock the user out. Standard email login remains available at all times.

How do I find my wallet address to share with someone?

To find a wallet address to share:

STEP 1: Tap Receive on the home screen.

STEP 2: Go to the Blockchains tab.

STEP 3: Select the currency the user wants to receive.

STEP 4: Select the correct network from the options.

STEP 5: The wallet address and QR code will be displayed.

STEP 6: Tap Copy to copy the address or tap Share for more sharing options.

IMPORTANT: Always select the correct network before sharing the address. The address may differ depending on the network selected. Share the address along with the network name to avoid confusion.

What can Tether do and what can Tether NOT do with my wallet?

Because Tether Wallet is self-custody, Tether CANNOT: access or manage user funds, reverse or cancel any blockchain transaction, or recover a wallet without the Secret Recovery Phrase or Cloud Backup.

Tether CAN: provide the wallet software and app updates, store encrypted backup data (which is unreadable without the encryption key held in the user cloud account), provide support guidance through the FAQ and Knowledge Base, and take compliance actions on Tether-issued tokens (USDt, USAt, XAUt) when required by law or regulation.

Can I buy or sell cryptocurrency through Tether Wallet?

Buying is available. Tether Wallet includes a Buy feature that lets the user purchase digital assets with traditional money (fiat) such as a debit card, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, or other locally supported payment methods, starting from inside the app.

IMPORTANT: Tether Wallet does not sell digital assets. Tether Wallet connects the user with third-party providers (such as MoonPay and additional providers available through Onramper). The provider handles identity verification (KYC), payment processing, and delivery of the purchased assets directly to the user's self-custody Tether Wallet address.

Selling is not available. Selling digital assets for fiat (off-ramp), swapping, and converting between tokens are not available in Tether Wallet at this time.

The user can also still add funds by receiving tokens from another person or from an exchange using a Tether.me username or a wallet address.

NOTE: The Buy feature is not available in every market. Availability depends on the market and on provider coverage, and the feature is being rolled out gradually.

How do I contact Tether Wallet support?

For help with Tether Wallet, the user can access the FAQ section directly within the app by going to Settings and tapping FAQs.

The user can also tap Support from the top-right menu, which redirects to the Tether Wallet support page at " https://wallet.tether.io/support/ " where users can interact with the AI assistant or browse common issues.

The Tether Wallet FAQ page is also available at " https://wallet.tether.io/faq/ " and the Knowledge Base at " https://support.wallet.tether.io/hc/en-us ".

IMPORTANT: Human agent support is not available at this time, and there is no public email address for contacting Tether Wallet support, legal, partnerships, press, security, or any other topic. The Tether Wallet AI assistant is the primary support channel. The Tether support team will NEVER ask for the Secret Recovery Phrase or cloud backup encryption details. If anyone contacts the user claiming to be Tether support and asks for this information, do not respond. The contact is a scam.

Does Tether Wallet only support digital tokens?

Tether Wallet holds digital tokens only. The supported digital currencies are USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin.

The user cannot deposit or withdraw physical cash, and cannot hold a fiat currency balance in the app.

However, the user can buy digital assets with traditional money using the Buy feature, where available. The purchase is completed by a third-party provider (such as MoonPay or a provider available through Onramper), which accepts the payment and delivers the digital assets to the Tether Wallet address. Tether Wallet never holds the user's fiat funds.

Selling digital assets back to fiat (off-ramp) is not available at this time. To convert digital assets back into local currency, the user would need to send the tokens to a third-party service that offers that option.

What is the difference between self-custody and a regular bank or payment app?

In a traditional bank or payment app (like a bank account or Venmo), the company holds and controls the user funds. The company can freeze accounts, reverse transactions, and recover access.

In a self-custody wallet like Tether Wallet, the user holds the keys. No one else - including Tether - can access or control the funds. Self-custody gives the user full ownership, but self-custody also means the user is fully responsible for keeping the Secret Recovery Phrase and backup safe.

There is no company that can intervene if access is lost.

How do I update the Tether Wallet app?

To update the app:

On iOS, open the App Store, search for Tether Wallet, and tap Update if available, or visit " https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tether-wallet/id6759002210 " .

On Android, open Google Play Store, search for Tether Wallet, and tap Update, or visit " https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.tether.wallet " .

The APK is also available on GitHub at " https://github.com/tetherto/tether-wallet-app-releases " .

Keeping the app updated ensures access to the latest features and security improvements. The current app version can be checked in Settings at the bottom of the screen.

WARNING: ALWAYS DOWNLOAD UPDATES FROM OFFICIAL STORES ONLY.

How do I log out of Tether Wallet?

To log out of Tether Wallet:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Settings.

STEP 3: Scroll to the bottom of the Settings screen.

STEP 4: Tap Log out.

IMPORTANT: Before logging out, ensure Cloud Backup is enabled or the Secret Recovery Phrase is saved. Logging out does not delete the account or funds. The user can log back in using email verification (if Cloud Backup is active) or the Secret Recovery Phrase.

Can I use Tether Wallet on multiple devices?

The user can log in to Tether Wallet on a new device using email verification with Cloud Backup or the Secret Recovery Phrase.

However, using Tether Wallet on multiple devices simultaneously is not recommended as simultaneous use may cause synchronization issues.

When logging in on a new device, the wallet is restored from the backup. Any actions taken on one device will be reflected on the blockchain but may not immediately sync to the other device until the app refreshes.

Do I need a memo, tag, or destination tag when sending or receiving in Tether Wallet?

No. None of the networks supported by Tether Wallet (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Plasma, or Tron) require memos, tags, or destination tags.

Every wallet address on these networks is unique to the user, so no additional identifier is needed. Memos and destination tags are only required on certain other networks (such as XRP, Stellar, or Cosmos) that are not supported by Tether Wallet.

If the user has used exchanges or other wallets in the past that required memos, Tether Wallet does not use memos. Simply send to the correct wallet address on the correct network and the funds will arrive.

Is Face ID available on Android devices?

Face ID is a specific Apple technology available only on iPhones. However, many Android devices offer Android-specific biometric options.

On Android, Tether Wallet uses whatever biometric method is available on the specific device. Most Android phones support fingerprint authentication, which is generally the most secure and reliable biometric option on Android.

Some Android models also offer face recognition, but face recognition security level varies significantly by brand and model. Most Android face recognition uses a standard 2D camera and is considered less secure than fingerprint. Only a few Android devices (such as certain Pixel and Huawei models) have face recognition that meets the highest security standards.

When the user enables Biometric Authentication in Tether Wallet, the app will automatically use the best available method on that device.

What email address can I use to register for Tether Wallet?

Any active email address can be used to register for Tether Wallet. Any standard email provider works, including Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, ProtonMail, iCloud Mail, or a work or university email.

The only requirement is that the email address must be able to receive automated verification emails. During setup, a 6-digit code will be sent to the email for verification.

Email address policy:

Tether Wallet uses the email address to create the account and to log in to the account.

The email address used to create the account cannot be changed later.

If the user enables Cloud Backup, the Cloud Backup is linked to the email account (via the associated iCloud or Google Account).

Once an account is deleted, the email address used to create the account cannot be reused to register a new Tether Wallet account.

If the email provider blocks automated messages (some corporate email filters block automated messages), try a different email address.

IMPORTANT: Because the email address is permanent for the account, the user should choose an email address the user has reliable, long-term access to.

How long do transactions take on each network?

Typical transaction times vary by network:

Bitcoin Lightning on Spark: nearly instant (less than one second).

Polygon: usually a few seconds.

Arbitrum: usually a few seconds.

Ethereum: usually a few minutes, but can take 10 to 20 minutes or longer when the network is busy.

Standard Bitcoin: roughly 10 minutes per processing cycle, and may take up to an hour during busy periods.

If a transaction is taking significantly longer than these times, the network is likely congested. The app shows the expected arrival time after a transaction is sent. Waiting is usually the best action.

Can I cancel or reverse a blockchain transaction?

WARNING: ONCE A BLOCKCHAIN TRANSACTION IS CONFIRMED, THE TRANSACTION CANNOT BE CANCELLED OR REVERSED BY ANYONE, INCLUDING TETHER. This is a fundamental property of blockchain technology and applies to all networks supported by Tether Wallet.

Before confirming any transaction, always verify the recipient address, the network, and the amount on the confirmation screen.

If a transaction shows In Progress, the transaction has already been submitted to the blockchain and cannot be stopped. This is why double-checking all details before tapping Confirm and Send is essential.

What should I do if I sent funds to the wrong address?

If funds were sent to the wrong address, recovery depends on the situation:

If the funds were sent to another person or entity, the user would need to contact the owner of the receiving address directly.

If the funds were sent on the wrong network between Ethereum, Polygon, or Arbitrum, recovery may be possible because these networks share the same address system. The user would need to access the receiving wallet on the correct network to find the tokens.

IMPORTANT: Always send a small test transaction first when sending to a new address for the first time.

What are blockchain explorers and how can I use blockchain explorers to track a transaction?

A blockchain explorer is a website where anyone can look up transactions and check transaction status. After sending a transaction from Tether Wallet, the user can tap the transaction and select View the Transaction on Explorer to track the transaction.

The explorer will show whether the transaction is still being processed, completed, or failed. Each network has its own explorer (see the blockchain explorers article for links).

The user does not need to visit these sites to use Tether Wallet, but blockchain explorers are helpful for checking on delayed transfers or verifying that a transaction was received.

Can I change my Tether.me username?

No. The Tether.me username is permanent and cannot be changed after the Tether.me username is created during wallet setup.

The Tether.me username cannot be separated from the account and email used when the Tether.me username was created. The Tether.me username cannot be reused on a new account, even if the original account is deleted.

The Tether.me username serves as a unique identifier for receiving payments from other Tether Wallet users. Because of this permanence, choosing a Tether.me username carefully during the initial setup is important.

The current Tether.me username can be viewed in Settings under the profile section.

Where is my Secret Recovery Phrase stored when I use Cloud Backup?

The Secret Recovery Phrase is NEVER uploaded to the cloud or to Tether servers during Cloud Backup.

Cloud Backup works differently: the app encrypts the wallet data on the device, sends the encrypted data to Tether servers, and saves only the encryption key to iCloud (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android).

The Secret Recovery Phrase stays on the device and in any offline copy the user has made (such as written on paper). Cloud Backup does not back up the Secret Recovery Phrase itself. Cloud Backup backs up the wallet data in encrypted form using a separate system.

IMPORTANT: The Secret Recovery Phrase and Cloud Backup are two independent recovery methods.

What is the difference between Cloud Backup and the Secret Recovery Phrase?

Cloud Backup and the Secret Recovery Phrase are two separate ways to recover a wallet. Cloud Backup and the Secret Recovery Phrase work independently.

The Secret Recovery Phrase is 12 words that the user writes down and stores offline. The Secret Recovery Phrase is never uploaded anywhere.

Cloud Backup uses a two-part encryption system: encrypted wallet data goes to Tether servers, and the encryption key goes to iCloud or Google Drive. The Secret Recovery Phrase is NOT part of Cloud Backup.

Either method alone can restore the wallet. Having both provides maximum protection.

Can I send Bitcoin, XAUt, or USAt using a Tether.me username?

Yes. A Tether.me username can be used to send any currency supported by Tether Wallet, including USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin. The Tether.me username feature is not limited to any single currency.

To send using a Tether.me username: tap Send, enter the recipient Tether.me username, choose the currency (any of the four), enter the amount, and confirm.

The recipient will receive the funds regardless of which currency is sent. Using a Tether.me username is the simplest way to transfer funds between Tether Wallet users for any supported token.

How does Tether Wallet cloud encryption work in detail?

When Cloud Backup is enabled, the following happens on the device:

STEP 1: The app generates a unique encryption key.

STEP 2: The app uses the encryption key to encrypt the wallet data.

STEP 3: The encrypted wallet data (unreadable without the key) is sent to Tether servers.

STEP 4: The encryption key (useless without the data) is saved to iCloud on iPhone or Google Drive on Android.

Neither Tether nor the cloud provider can access the wallet alone. Tether holds data Tether cannot read. The cloud holds a key with nothing to unlock. Only when both parts meet on the device during login can the wallet be restored.

What happens if I receive an unsupported token at my Tether Wallet address?

Tether Wallet only supports USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin. If someone sends an unsupported token (such as ETH, USDC, or any other token) to a Tether Wallet address on a supported EVM network like Ethereum, Polygon, or Arbitrum, those unsupported tokens will not appear in the app but the funds are not lost.

Because Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum share the same address system, the user can import the Secret Recovery Phrase into a trusted third-party wallet that supports the relevant token and network to access the funds.

The Tron network uses a different address format than the EVM networks. The Tron address generated by Tether Wallet is separate from the Ethereum/Polygon/Arbitrum address. Tokens received at the Tron address must be supported by the Tether Wallet Tron implementation (USDt on Tron) to appear in the app.

IMPORTANT: Only use well-known, trusted wallet providers.

What are the blockchain explorer links for each supported network?

Blockchain explorers allow the user to look up any transaction by transaction ID. Each supported network has its own explorer:

Ethereum: " https://etherscan.io "

Polygon: " https://polygonscan.com "

Arbitrum: " https://arbiscan.io "

Standard Bitcoin: " https://mempool.space " or " https://blockstream.info "

Bitcoin Lightning: " https://mempool.space/lightning "

To use an explorer, copy the transaction ID from the Tether Wallet transaction details and paste the transaction ID into the search bar on the relevant explorer website.

IMPORTANT: Only use the official explorer links listed above.

I cannot find my transaction. How do I locate the transaction?

If a transaction cannot be found in the wallet:

For sent transactions, tap Transactions on the home screen and check the history. Tap the transaction to see details including the transaction ID. Select View the Transaction on Explorer to track the transaction status on the network.

For incoming transactions that have not appeared, ask the sender for the transaction ID and the network the sender used. Go to the blockchain explorer for that network, paste the transaction ID in the search bar, and check the status.

If the explorer shows the transaction as completed but the transaction does not appear in the wallet, verify that the correct network was used and try closing and reopening the app.

Where can I download the Tether Wallet app?

Tether Wallet is available for free on iOS and Android. Download from the official sources only:

iOS (iPhone): " https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tether-wallet/id6759002210 "

Android (Google Play): " https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.tether.wallet "

GitHub APK (Android, direct install): " https://github.com/tetherto/tether-wallet-app-releases "

Keet P2P: The APK is also available via the Keet app using the peer link listed on the GitHub page.

After downloading, open the app and follow the on-screen steps to create a new wallet or log in to an existing one.

WARNING: NEVER DOWNLOAD TETHER WALLET FROM UNOFFICIAL SOURCES, LINKS IN MESSAGES, OR THIRD-PARTY APP STORES. Fake wallet apps are a common scam used to steal funds.

Can I receive any cryptocurrency in Tether Wallet?

No. Tether Wallet only supports USDt, USAt, XAUt, and Bitcoin on specific networks. Sending an unsupported token to a Tether Wallet address will not cause the funds to appear in the app.

Supported tokens and networks: USDt on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Plasma, and Tron. XAUt on Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma, and Arbitrum. USAt on Ethereum. Bitcoin on standard Bitcoin and Lightning on Spark.

If an unsupported token is sent on one of these networks, the funds are not lost but will not be visible in Tether Wallet. The user would need a third-party wallet to access those unsupported tokens.

Does Tether Wallet collect taxes or report transactions to authorities?

No. Tether Wallet does not collect, withhold, or report taxes on behalf of the user. No tax forms, transaction reports, or financial summaries are generated by the app.

For questions about tax obligations related to cryptocurrency holdings, consult a qualified tax professional in the relevant jurisdiction. Tether Wallet does not provide tax or legal advice.

What if I have lost both my Secret Recovery Phrase and my cloud backup access?

If both recovery methods are unavailable, try these steps before concluding that access is lost:

STEP 1: Attempt to recover the Google Account (Android) or Apple ID (iPhone) through the provider own account recovery process at " https://accounts.google.com " or " https://appleid.apple.com " . Recovering the cloud account would restore access to the cloud encryption key.

STEP 2: Search thoroughly for any written copy of the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase in safe locations, notebooks, or secure storage.

STEP 3: Try entering the Secret Recovery Phrase even if unsure about some words. The app will only accept the exact 12 words in the correct order.

If none of these steps succeed, unfortunately the wallet cannot be recovered by anyone, including Tether. This is a fundamental aspect of self-custody.

What happens if tokens are sent to my address on a completely unsupported network like Solana or BNB Chain?

If tokens are sent on a network that is not supported by Tether Wallet (such as Solana, BNB Chain, or others not listed as supported), the situation is more complex.

Solana and similar non-EVM networks use a different address system than Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. This means the Tether Wallet Secret Recovery Phrase may not produce a valid address on those unsupported networks.

Recovery may require specialist knowledge or tools and recovery is not guaranteed. The user should consult with the support channels of a wallet that supports the specific network where the tokens were sent.

NOTE: Tron is supported by Tether Wallet for USDt. If USDt was sent on the Tron network to the Tether Wallet Tron address, the funds will appear in the app. Other tokens on Tron, or USDt sent to a non-Tron address, are not supported.

Is my transaction taking longer than normal?

Typical processing times for each network:

Bitcoin Lightning on Spark completes in under one second.

Polygon and Arbitrum usually complete within a few seconds.

Ethereum usually completes within a few minutes.

Standard Bitcoin usually takes about 10 minutes but can take up to an hour.

If a transaction is taking significantly longer than these times, the network is likely experiencing high traffic. In all cases, the recommended action is to wait. The user can check the transaction status using a blockchain explorer.

How do I send my entire balance of a currency?

To send the entire balance, use the Send Max feature in the app. When Send Max is used, the network fee is automatically deducted from the amount being sent.

This means the recipient will receive slightly less than the total balance because the fee comes out of what is sent, not on top of the amount sent. For example, if the user has 100 USDt and the network fee is 0.50 USDt, the recipient will receive 99.50 USDt.

The confirmation screen will clearly show the amount being sent, the fee, and what the recipient will receive before the transaction is approved.

What is Spark and how does Spark work in Tether Wallet?

Spark is a Bitcoin Layer 2 protocol used by Tether Wallet for fast Bitcoin Lightning payments. Spark enables instant transfers (under one second) with zero network fees for Spark-to-Spark transactions.

Spark is fully non-custodial, meaning the user maintains control of assets via the Secret Recovery Phrase. Unlike traditional Lightning, Spark does not require users to open, fund, or manage payment channels.

Spark is interoperable with the broader Lightning Network, so users can pay standard Lightning invoices from the Spark balance (a small routing fee of 0.15 to 0.25 percent applies for external Lightning payments).

Users can withdraw assets back to the main Bitcoin blockchain at any time without needing permission from any third party.

How do I navigate the Receive screen and the Manually Select Blockchain option?

The Receive screen has two tabs at the top:

The Blockchains tab (Manually Select Blockchain) allows the user to select a specific currency and network to generate a unique deposit address and QR code. Until both a currency and network are selected, a placeholder message will display saying the address and QR code will appear once selections are made. Once both are chosen, the wallet address and QR code appear.

The tether.me Username tab shows the personal tether.me payment address with a QR code. This smart address is for receiving from other Tether Wallet users.

For receiving from external wallets or exchanges, always use the Blockchains tab and select the correct network.

What is a stablecoin?

A stablecoin is a type of digital currency designed to maintain a stable value, typically pegged 1:1 to a traditional currency like the US dollar.

Unlike Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies that can change in price significantly, stablecoins aim to always be worth the same amount.

Tether Wallet supports two stablecoins: USDt (pegged to the US dollar, backed by Tether reserves) and USAt (pegged to the US dollar, a federally regulated stablecoin for the US market).

Stablecoins are useful for sending and receiving value without worrying about price changes during the transfer.

What are Digital Dollars in Tether Wallet?

In the Tether Wallet app, the term Digital Dollars refers to dollar-pegged stablecoins supported by the wallet, specifically USDt and USAt.

Both USDt and USAt are designed to maintain a value pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. USDt is the most widely used stablecoin globally, backed by Tether reserves. USAt is a federally regulated stablecoin designed for the US market.

When the app displays Digital Dollars, the app is referring to these stablecoin holdings. The user can view, send, and receive Digital Dollars just like any other supported currency in the wallet.

What are the main sections of the Tether Wallet app?

The Tether Wallet app has these main sections accessible from the top-right menu icon on the home screen:

Transactions - view and filter all transaction history.

Security - manage the Secret Recovery Phrase, toggle Biometric Authentication, and delete account.

Settings - profile info, backup status, theme, language, default currency, FAQs, app version, and log out.

Support - redirects to the Tether Wallet support page.

The home screen itself shows the Total Wallet Balance, a Portfolio button for the asset breakdown, a Transactions shortcut, and the Receive and Send buttons at the bottom.

What happens if a Spark Lightning deposit from Bitcoin mainnet has not appeared?

If a user deposits Bitcoin from the main Bitcoin blockchain (Layer 1) to the Spark Lightning balance and the funds have not appeared, the initial bridge transaction requires standard Bitcoin block confirmations before the balance updates in Spark.

Bitcoin blocks take approximately 10 minutes each, and multiple confirmations may be needed. The user should check a Bitcoin blockchain explorer using the transaction ID to verify the transaction status.

Once confirmed on the Bitcoin blockchain, the funds will appear in the Spark Lightning balance. If the transaction shows as confirmed on the explorer but still does not appear, try closing and reopening the app.

What do I see when I first open the Tether Wallet app?

When the app is opened for the first time, the landing screen appears with two options: Create a New Wallet and Log in to existing Wallet.

If the user selects Create a New Wallet, the registration flow begins: enter email, verify with a 6-digit code, choose a Tether.me username, and optionally set up Cloud Backup and Biometric Authentication.

If the user selects Log in to existing Wallet, the app proceeds with the login flow using email verification and Cloud Backup restore, or the Secret Recovery Phrase if backup is unavailable.

Both options start with the same email entry screen. If the email is new, the app creates a new wallet. If the email is already registered, the app signs the user in.

What is on the home screen and how do I navigate the home screen?

The home screen shows the Total Wallet Balance at the top, displaying the combined value of all assets. Below the balance is a Portfolio button that opens the Asset Breakdown, showing each currency, the currency amount, and market value.

Below the Portfolio button is a Transactions shortcut to view transaction history. At the bottom of the screen are the main action buttons: Receive and Send. In markets where the Buy feature is available, a Buy option is also shown for purchasing digital assets with traditional money.

In the top-right corner is a menu icon that opens four options: Transactions, Security, Settings, and Support.

If the account has not been backed up, a dismissible backup reminder will appear on the home screen warning the user to back up the wallet.

What does the backup reminder on my home screen mean?

If the home screen shows a notice prompting the user to back up the wallet, the notice means Cloud Backup has not been completed.

IMPORTANT: Without a backup or the Secret Recovery Phrase saved offline, the wallet cannot be recovered if the device is lost.

To resolve the backup reminder: tap the backup reminder, or go to Settings and tap the backup section under the profile. Follow the prompts to enable Cloud Backup.

Alternatively, go to Security and tap Recovery Phrase to view and write down the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase.

Once either backup method is completed, the reminder will no longer appear. Both methods can be used together for maximum protection.

How do I use a QR code to send or receive funds?

To receive using a QR code: Tap Receive, select the currency and network (or use the tether.me tab), and the QR code will appear on screen. The sender scans the QR code with the sender wallet app to auto-fill the address.

To send using a QR code: Tap Send, then scan the recipient QR code using the device camera. The app will read the address automatically and fill the address in. Tap Continue and proceed with the normal send flow.

QR codes reduce the risk of errors from manually copying long wallet addresses.

IMPORTANT: Always verify the network and currency match between sender and receiver, even when using QR codes.

What is the difference between the Blockchains tab and the tether.me tab on the Receive screen?

The Receive screen has two tabs:

The Blockchains tab is for receiving from external wallets and exchanges. The user selects a currency and network, and the app generates a unique blockchain address and QR code specific to that network. The blockchain address should be shared with the sender along with the network name.

The tether.me Username tab is for receiving from other Tether Wallet users. The tether.me Username tab displays the personal tether.me payment address and QR code. This smart address works across multiple networks and is the simplest way to receive from another Tether Wallet user.

For external senders who do not use Tether Wallet, always use the Blockchains tab and confirm the network.

How do I check my current backup status?

To check backup status:

STEP 1: Tap the top-right menu icon on the home screen.

STEP 2: Select Settings.

STEP 3: Under the profile section, the backup status is displayed. The backup status will show whether the account is currently backed up or not.

STEP 4: Tap the backup area to see more details including which cloud account was used, which platform (iCloud or Google Drive), and the date of the last backup.

If the status shows the account is not backed up, the user can enable Cloud Backup from this screen. The Security menu also shows a Not backed up indicator next to Recovery Phrase if no backup has been completed.

What should I do before sending a large amount for the first time?

Before sending a large amount, follow these safety steps:

STEP 1: Send a small test transaction to the same address and network to confirm everything works. Wait for the test transaction to arrive before sending the full amount.

STEP 2: Verify the recipient address carefully. Copy and paste instead of typing manually, and check the first and last few characters match what the recipient provided.

STEP 3: Confirm the correct network with the recipient. Both sides must use the same network.

STEP 4: Review the confirmation screen in the app, which shows the recipient address, network, amount, fee, and total cost. Only tap Confirm and Send when all details are correct.

WARNING: BLOCKCHAIN TRANSACTIONS CANNOT BE REVERSED ONCE CONFIRMED.

Can I receive funds from someone who does not use Tether Wallet?

Yes. Tether Wallet can receive funds from any wallet or exchange that supports the same token on the same network.

To receive from a non-Tether Wallet sender: Tap Receive and go to the Blockchains tab. Select the currency and the network the sender will use. Share the generated wallet address (or QR code) with the sender, along with the network name. The sender enters the address in the sender own wallet or exchange and sends.

The deposit will appear in Tether Wallet once confirmed on the blockchain.

IMPORTANT: The tether.me username only works between Tether Wallet users. For external senders, always share the blockchain address from the Blockchains tab.

What does each option in the Settings menu do?

The Settings menu contains:

Profile section showing the Tether.me username and registered email.

Backup status showing whether the account is backed up, with an option to manage backup.

Theme to switch between Light, Dark, or System (matches device settings).

Language to change the app display language.

Default Currency to choose which currency is used to show all balances and amounts.

FAQs to access frequently asked questions within the app.

App Version showing the current installed version number and build.

Log Out button at the bottom to sign out of the wallet.

IMPORTANT: Logging out does not delete the account or funds.

What does each option in the Security menu do?

The Security menu contains three options:

Recovery Phrase opens a screen showing the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase in a masked state. Tap Show to reveal the words, Copy to copy the words, or use the option to save an encrypted backup to iCloud. A Not backed up indicator appears if no backup exists.

Biometric Authentication is a toggle to enable or disable Face ID (iPhone) or fingerprint and face recognition (Android) for faster sign-in.

Delete Account opens a confirmation prompt to permanently delete the wallet account. Before deleting, transfer all funds and save the Secret Recovery Phrase. Deletion removes access to the encrypted Cloud Backup on Tether servers.

What happens if I enter my Secret Recovery Phrase incorrectly?

If the Secret Recovery Phrase is entered incorrectly, the app will not restore the wallet. The 12 words must be entered in the exact original order with the correct spelling.

Common mistakes include: entering words in the wrong order, misspelling a word, confusing similar words (such as "word" and "world"), or missing a word.

The app will only accept the exact Secret Recovery Phrase that was generated during wallet creation. If the user is unsure about one or two words, the user can try variations, but the full 12-word combination must be exact.

There is no limit on attempts, so the user can keep trying. If the Secret Recovery Phrase cannot be remembered and no Cloud Backup exists, the wallet cannot be recovered.

The app is asking me to choose a Google Account. What should I do?

During login or Cloud Backup restore on Android, the app may display a list of Google Accounts signed in on the device and ask the user to choose one.

The user must select the same Google Account that was used when the backup was originally created. If the wrong Google Account is selected, the backup will not be found and the app will ask for the Secret Recovery Phrase instead.

If the user does not remember which Google Account was used: check the Settings screen after login, which shows the cloud account and platform used for the last backup along with the date.

If none of the Google Accounts on the device match, sign into the correct Google Account in the device settings first, then try again.

How do I choose which currency to send?

When sending funds: Tap Send on the home screen, enter the recipient (Tether.me username, wallet address, or QR code), and tap Continue.

The app will then allow the user to select which currency to send from the available balances. The user can choose from USDt, USAt, XAUt, or Bitcoin depending on which currencies have a balance.

After selecting the currency, enter the amount and tap Continue. The confirmation screen will display all details including the selected currency, network, amount, fee, and recipient before the user taps Confirm and Send.

What happens if I do not have enough balance to cover the network fee?

If the wallet balance is not sufficient to cover both the amount being sent and the network fee, the transaction will not proceed. The app will show the fee on the confirmation screen so the user can see if there is enough balance.

If the balance is too low, the user can reduce the amount being sent to leave room for the fee, or use the Send Max feature which automatically deducts the fee from the total amount.

On some networks like Polygon or Arbitrum, a small amount of the native gas token (POL or ETH) may also be needed.

If the transaction fails due to insufficient balance, the funds remain in the wallet.

What is the Plasma network in Tether Wallet?

Plasma is one of the network options available for certain tokens in Tether Wallet. Plasma appears as a network choice when sending or receiving USDt and XAUt.

Plasma is a Layer 2 scaling solution that processes transactions off the main Ethereum blockchain, which can result in faster processing and lower fees.

When using Plasma, the user should ensure the recipient also supports the Plasma network for that token. If unsure which network to use, confirm with the recipient before sending.

The same rules apply as with any network: sender and receiver must use the same network for the transfer to succeed.

What is Keet and how is Keet related to Tether Wallet?

Keet is a peer-to-peer communication app that allows direct messaging, video calls, and file sharing between users without relying on central servers. Keet is built on the Holepunch platform (now also known as Pear), which provides the underlying peer-to-peer technology.

Keet is relevant to Tether Wallet users because the Tether Wallet Android APK is available for download through Keet as an alternative distribution channel. Keet also supports Bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network.

Keet and Tether Wallet are separate applications with different purposes: Keet is for private communication, while Tether Wallet is for managing digital currencies.

For Keet support, join the Holepunch Discord server at " https://discord.gg/holepunch " . The Tether Wallet Assistant can only help with Tether Wallet questions.

What is Holepunch and Pear Runtime?

Holepunch is the peer-to-peer technology company behind the Keet app. Holepunch provides the platform that enables direct device-to-device connections without central servers.

The developer platform is now known as Pear Runtime ( " https://docs.pears.com " ), which provides open-source building blocks for developers to create peer-to-peer applications.

Holepunch and Pear are not part of Tether Wallet, but Holepunch and Pear are part of the broader ecosystem. The Tether Wallet APK is distributed through Keet as one of the download channels.

For technical questions about Holepunch or Pear, visit the developer documentation or join the Discord community at " https://discord.gg/holepunch " . The Tether Wallet Assistant can only assist with Tether Wallet questions.

What protocol does Tether Wallet use for the Secret Recovery Phrase?

Tether Wallet uses the standard BIP39 protocol for Secret Recovery Phrases. BIP39 is the industry-standard specification for generating and representing mnemonic seed phrases used by most self-custody wallets.

Under the hood, the Tether Wallet application is built on Tether's open-source Wallet Development Kit (WDK), which natively generates and derives keys using standard BIP39 mnemonics.

This means the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase produced by Tether Wallet follows the same BIP39 standard used across the broader self-custody wallet ecosystem.

IMPORTANT: Although the Secret Recovery Phrase follows the BIP39 standard, importing the Secret Recovery Phrase into a third-party wallet may not immediately show the same address or balances as Tether Wallet. This is because Tether Wallet uses a Safe smart contract account for its primary address. See the related article on importing the Secret Recovery Phrase into other wallets for more detail.

Why can I not see my balance when I import my Secret Recovery Phrase into another wallet?

If the Secret Recovery Phrase is imported into a third-party wallet and the same address and balance from Tether Wallet do not appear, this is expected behaviour.

Tether Wallet uses a Safe smart contract account for its primary address. Importing the Secret Recovery Phrase into many standard wallets will not show the same address and balances immediately, because most wallets derive a standard externally-owned-account address from the Secret Recovery Phrase rather than connecting to the Safe smart contract account.

The Safe smart contract account is also how gas-fee payments in Tether Wallet can be made using the same token that is being sent (rather than requiring a separate native gas token in every case).

How to interact with the same smart contract account: it is possible to import the Secret Recovery Phrase into another wallet, then connect to a dapp that is compatible with Safe smart contracts. This allows interaction with the same smart contract account used in Tether Wallet.

Viewing balances directly: the balances on the Safe smart contract account can also be viewed on the relevant blockchain explorers using the Tether Wallet address.

IMPORTANT: With regard to third-party wallets, Tether Wallet cannot provide specific suggestions or recommendations. Only use well-known, trusted wallet providers.

What is the Tether.me BTC Giveaway?

The Tether.me BTC Giveaway is a periodic distribution by Tether Data of small amounts of Bitcoin (approximately US$0.10 worth per Prize, sent via the Lightning Network) to eligible Tether.me address holders.

The Giveaway runs over defined Giveaway Periods, announced by the @BTC account on X (formerly Twitter). Each Giveaway Period has a limited number of Prizes available.

How to participate:

STEP 1: Reply to a Giveaway post from the @BTC account on X with a valid Tether.me address.

STEP 2: Each user is limited to one (1) entry per Giveaway Period, per person and per X account. Only the first eligible entry will be considered.

STEP 3: If selected, the Prize is delivered to the Lightning address associated with the Tether.me address, typically within 10 days after the Giveaway Period ends.

The full official rules are available at " https://wallet.tether.io/giveaway-2026-rules/ ".

IMPORTANT: The Giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by X or any social media platform. Prizes cannot be assigned, substituted, or redeemed for cash. The value of Bitcoin is volatile and may fluctuate after distribution. Use of multiple accounts, scripts, bots, or similar automation is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

Who is eligible for the Tether.me BTC Giveaway?

To be eligible for the Tether.me BTC Giveaway, a participant must:

Hold a valid Tether.me account.

Have an account on X (formerly Twitter).

Be at least the age of majority in the participant's jurisdiction.

Not be a person or entity listed on a sanctions list or subject to a comprehensive embargo by the governments of the United States, El Salvador, or the United Nations.

Comply at all times with the Giveaway Rules and the Tether Wallet Terms of Use.

The Giveaway is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Full official rules are at " https://wallet.tether.io/giveaway-2026-rules/ ".

How are Tether.me BTC Giveaway prizes distributed?

For each Giveaway Period, Tether Data sets a limit on how many Prizes are available. Prizes are distributed in two streams:

1. Participants who have not received a Prize in the past 15 days. A significant majority of the Giveaway Period's allocation is reserved for these participants. Selection within this stream is on a first-come, first-served basis from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period.

2. Participants who have received a Prize in the past 15 days. The remaining allocation is reserved for these participants. This portion is split across each hour of the Giveaway Period in chunks (the Hourly Limit), determined by Tether Data in its sole discretion. Selection is first-come, first-served within each hour, up to that hour's limit.

Payments are processed sequentially in chronological order. Once a category's allocation (or hourly limit) is reached, additional entries in that category will not receive a Prize for the applicable period and may receive an automated "limit reached" reply.

The goal of this structure is to improve fairness and prevent a small number of users from continuously claiming the majority of payouts.

IMPORTANT: Use of multiple Tether.me or X accounts, scripts, bots, or similar entry mechanisms is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification. Tether Data reserves the right to disqualify any participant suspected of inappropriate behaviour including farming, spamming, or otherwise using automated mechanisms. Decisions by Tether Data on selection and all Giveaway matters are final and binding. Full official rules are at " https://wallet.tether.io/giveaway-2026-rules/ ".

When will I receive my Tether.me BTC Giveaway prize?

Prizes will be distributed to eligible participants within 10 days after the end of the applicable Giveaway Period. Winners receive their Prize at the Lightning address associated with their Tether.me address.

Tether Data relies on a third-party network (the Lightning Network) for Prize delivery and is not responsible for errors, delays, or non-receipt of a Prize caused by third-party networks.

The participant is solely responsible for providing an accurate and valid Tether.me address. Tether Data assumes no responsibility for rewards lost due to incorrect address information.

The amount of Bitcoin delivered depends on the BTC/USD price at the time, as determined by Tether Data. Approximate retail value per Prize is US$0.10. The value of Bitcoin is highly volatile and may increase or decrease following distribution.

Full official rules are at " https://wallet.tether.io/giveaway-2026-rules/ ".

Can I use USDt on the Tron network in Tether Wallet?

Yes. Tether Wallet supports USDt on Tron in addition to USDt on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Plasma.

To send or receive USDt on Tron:

STEP 1: Tap Receive on the home screen and go to the Blockchains tab. Select USDt, then select Tron as the network. The Tron-format address and QR code will appear.

STEP 2: Share the Tron address (or QR code) with the sender. Both sender and receiver must use the Tron network for the transfer to succeed.

NOTE on existing users: Current Tether Wallet users will automatically be provisioned a Tron address — no manual setup is needed. The Tron address can be viewed from the Blockchains tab on the Receive screen by selecting USDt and then Tron.

IMPORTANT: The Tron address uses a different address format than Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum. A Tron address must only be used to receive USDt on Tron. Sending USDt-TRC20 to an Ethereum-format address (or vice versa) will result in loss of funds. Always confirm the network with the recipient before sending.

What languages does the Tether Wallet app support?

The Tether Wallet app supports the following languages: English and Spanish.

To change the app language:

STEP 1: From the home screen, tap the top-right menu icon.

STEP 2: Select Settings.

STEP 3: Tap Language and select the preferred language.

The language can be changed at any time without affecting wallet functionality or balances.

IMPORTANT: Language selection applies to the Tether Wallet app interface only. The Tether Wallet AI Support Assistant and the online Knowledge Base currently respond in English only. Support content may be added in additional languages in future updates.

What is the marketing tracking consent prompt in Tether Wallet?

Tether Wallet uses a marketing analytics tool to measure the performance of its marketing campaigns. The tool is only enabled if the user gives consent.

On first launch (or after an app update that introduces this feature), the app may display a consent prompt asking whether to enable marketing tracking. The user can choose to accept or decline.

If the user gives consent: the app may share limited analytics data used to measure how Tether Wallet marketing campaigns are performing.

If the user declines: no marketing tracking data is collected from the device.

Declining the prompt does not affect any wallet functionality. Sending, receiving, backup, and all other features continue to work the same way regardless of the consent choice.

For full details about what data the app collects, see the Tether Wallet Privacy Statement at " https://wallet.tether.io/application-privacy/ ".

What is the Buy feature in Tether Wallet?

The Buy feature allows the user to purchase digital assets with traditional money (fiat), starting from inside the Tether Wallet app.

IMPORTANT: Tether Wallet does not sell digital assets and is not the seller in the transaction. Tether Wallet acts as a marketplace: it collects offers (quotes) from third-party providers, ranks them, and lets the user compare and choose one. The purchase contract is between the user and the selected provider.

The providers at launch are MoonPay (integrated directly) and additional providers available through Onramper, an aggregator. The user may therefore see offers from several different companies.

The provider is responsible for: customer onboarding, identity verification (KYC) where required, payment processing, fraud and compliance checks, approving or rejecting the purchase, and delivering the purchased assets.

Tether Wallet does not: sell digital assets directly, hold the user's traditional money, process payments, store card details, perform KYC, or approve or reject purchases.

The purchased assets are delivered directly to the user's self-custody Tether Wallet address. Tether Wallet does not take custody of the funds at any point.

How do I buy digital assets in Tether Wallet?

To buy digital assets in Tether Wallet:

STEP 1: Tap Buy in the app.

STEP 2: Select the asset to purchase and the network to receive it on.

STEP 3: Review the pre-filled details. The app pre-selects a fiat currency based on the user's location and pre-fills an amount of 100 USD (or the equivalent in the selected currency). Both can be changed.

STEP 4: Choose the fiat amount to spend and the payment method.

STEP 5: The app retrieves offers from the available providers and shows a shortlist ranked by how much the user would receive. Compare the offers and select a provider. The full list of available providers can also be viewed.

STEP 6: Review the provider disclosure screen and choose to continue. No purchase is started automatically.

STEP 7: The app opens the provider's page, where the user completes identity verification (if required) and enters payment details directly with the provider.

STEP 8: Once the payment is approved, the provider sends the purchased assets to the Tether Wallet address, the user is returned to Tether Wallet, and the purchase appears in the transaction history.

IMPORTANT: The amounts shown before the redirect are estimates provided by the third-party providers and may change before the purchase completes.

Which providers can I buy from and how are providers ranked?

Tether Wallet shows offers from MoonPay and from providers made available through Onramper, an aggregator that connects to a wide range of buy providers. Which providers appear depends on the user's situation.

How the list is ranked: providers are sorted by the amount of digital assets the user would receive for the selected fiat amount, highest first. This already accounts for price and fees where the provider makes them visible. The top provider is tagged Cheapest.

Last used: if the user has purchased through a specific provider before and that provider is not the cheapest, it is moved to the second position and tagged Last used. This is because the user has already completed identity verification with that provider and can usually complete the purchase faster. A provider can carry both the Cheapest and Last used tags at the same time.

Unavailable: if a provider cannot return a quote or is temporarily offline, the provider still appears in the list but is marked Unavailable and cannot be selected. The user should choose another provider or try again later.

IMPORTANT: The user is never forced to use the top-ranked provider. Any available provider in the list can be selected.

What determines which providers I see when I buy?

The providers shown in the Buy flow are filtered by:

The user's country, determined by IP address.

The fiat currency selected.

The payment method selected.

The asset and network being purchased.

Provider availability at that moment.

Because of this, two users in different countries buying the same asset can see completely different providers, and changing the payment method or currency can change the list.

IMPORTANT: If no provider returns an offer for a particular combination, the user will see an empty result. This does not mean the user's region is unsupported. It only means no provider returned a quote for that specific request. Trying a different payment method, fiat currency, amount, or network may return offers.

What payment methods can I use to buy in Tether Wallet?

Payment methods available in the Buy flow may include:

Debit card

Credit card

Apple Pay

Google Pay

Bank transfer

Other locally supported payment methods, which vary by country (for example VietQR in Vietnam).

IMPORTANT: Available payment methods differ between providers and between countries. Not every method is offered everywhere, and selecting a different payment method may change which providers appear and what they offer.

Payment details are entered directly with the selected provider. Tether Wallet does not process or store card details or any payment credentials.

Which countries is the Buy feature available in?

The Buy feature is being rolled out gradually and is not visible in every market. Availability depends on the market and on which providers cover that market.

Markets included at the initial release: Australia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Colombia, Chile, Taiwan, Thailand, and Nigeria. More markets will be added over time.

IMPORTANT for the Tether Wallet Assistant: Do not tell a user that their country or region is blocked, restricted, or unsupported. If a user reports that the Buy option is not visible, explain that availability depends on market and provider coverage and that the feature is still rolling out, and ask for the country and app version so the report can be passed to the product team.

Why can I not see the Buy option in my Tether Wallet app?

The Buy option is not visible in every market. Availability depends on the market and on provider coverage, and the feature is still being rolled out to more markets.

If the Buy option is not visible:

STEP 1: Make sure the app is updated to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.

STEP 2: Close and reopen the app.

STEP 3: If the option is still not visible, note the country and the app version. Tether Wallet is expanding the feature to more markets over time.

IMPORTANT: The Tether Wallet Assistant must never tell a user that their region is blocked or restricted. The correct response is that availability depends on market and provider coverage, that the rollout is ongoing, and that the user's country and app version will help the team look into it.

Why is the amount I received different from the amount I was quoted?

The amount shown in the Buy flow before the user is redirected to a provider is an estimate, not a guaranteed final figure.

The final amount received can differ slightly because of:

Market price movement between the quote and the completed purchase.

Payment method selection.

Provider fees or exchange rates that were not exposed in the quote.

Provider-specific policies.

Quotes also expire. The app displays a countdown and automatically refreshes the offers and the ranking when the quote validity expires.

IMPORTANT: A small difference between the quoted and received amount is expected. If the difference is large, the user should raise it with the provider that processed the purchase, since the provider executed the transaction and set the final price.

Does Tether Wallet charge a fee when I buy?

Tether Wallet does not charge the user a fee for using the Buy feature and does not earn money from these purchases.

Any cost in a Buy transaction comes from the third-party provider that processes the purchase. Provider costs can include a service fee, a payment processing fee, the exchange rate applied, and any network fee for delivering the assets.

Because providers price differently, the Buy screen ranks providers by how much the user actually receives for the selected amount, which is the simplest way to compare the true cost. The provider offering the most is tagged Cheapest.

Who performs identity verification (KYC) when I buy?

Identity verification (KYC) is performed by the third-party provider, not by Tether Wallet.

Tether Wallet does not perform KYC, does not see or store the documents submitted, and does not approve or reject a verification. Each provider sets its own requirements, which can vary by country and by purchase amount.

Creating and using a Tether Wallet itself does not require KYC. Verification is only requested by the provider when the user chooses to buy digital assets through that provider.

If verification is declined or delayed, only the provider can review the decision. The provider's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and support channel are surfaced in the Buy flow in the app.

My Buy payment failed or my identity verification was rejected. What should I do?

Payment processing and identity verification for a Buy purchase are handled entirely by the third-party provider. Tether Wallet cannot see the payment, review a verification decision, or change the outcome.

These issues must be raised directly with the provider that handled the purchase:

STEP 1: If the purchase is still processing, open the transaction in the Transactions history and tap Contact support. This opens the support channel of the provider handling that purchase.

STEP 2: If the purchase is no longer processing, use the provider links shown in the Buy flow to reach the provider's support directly.

STEP 3: Have the provider's own reference or order number ready, along with the date, amount, and payment method.

IMPORTANT: Tether Wallet cannot open a ticket on the provider's side, follow up on payment status, or intervene in verification decisions.

I bought digital assets but the funds have not arrived. What should I do?

In a Buy purchase, the provider sends the assets to the Tether Wallet address only after the payment has cleared on the provider's side.

STEP 1: Check the status of the payment with the provider first. If the purchase is still processing, open the transaction in the Transactions history and tap Contact support to reach that provider directly.

STEP 2: Once the provider confirms the payment is complete, the assets are sent to the wallet and the transaction appears in the transaction history.

STEP 3: After the provider has sent the assets, delivery still depends on the network used. Allow normal network processing time and check the transaction on a blockchain explorer if a transaction ID is available.

IMPORTANT: Tether Wallet cannot release, speed up, or cancel a purchase held on the provider's side.

Can I get a refund or cancel a Buy purchase?

A Buy purchase is a transaction between the user and the third-party provider. Tether Wallet is not the seller, does not hold the user's money, and cannot issue refunds, reverse charges, or cancel a purchase.

Refunds, chargebacks, and disputes about the amount charged must be raised directly with the provider that processed the purchase, under that provider's own terms.

To reach the provider: if the purchase is still processing, open the transaction in the Transactions history and tap Contact support. Otherwise use the provider links surfaced in the Buy flow.

WARNING: Once digital assets have been delivered to the wallet and sent onward on a blockchain, that onward transaction cannot be reversed by anyone, including Tether.

How do I contact support about a Buy purchase?

Questions about a Buy purchase - payment, identity verification, refunds, or the amount charged - are handled by the third-party provider that processed the purchase, not by Tether Wallet.

While a purchase is still processing: open the Transactions history, tap the Buy transaction to open the details, and tap the Contact support button. This redirects directly to the support channel of the provider handling that purchase.

At other times: each provider's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and support link are surfaced in the app during the Buy flow.

For questions about the Tether Wallet app itself - how Buy works, where the transaction appears, sending, receiving, backup, or security - the Tether Wallet Assistant and the Tether Wallet FAQ at " https://wallet.tether.io/faq/ " are the right places to ask.

Where do my Buy purchases appear in the app?

A completed purchase appears in the Tether Wallet transaction history, categorised as a Buy transaction.

The transaction record shows the asset purchased, the amount received, the date and time, and the provider that was used. Where the provider makes the information available, the fiat amount paid, the payment method, the network, and a fee breakdown are also captured.

While a purchase is still processing, the transaction is shown as in progress and the transaction details screen includes a Contact support button that opens the provider's support channel.

After the purchase completes, the user is returned to Tether Wallet and the transaction details are displayed in the app.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can buy?

Yes. Minimum and maximum purchase amounts apply, and these limits are set by the providers rather than by Tether Wallet.

If the entered amount is below the minimum or above the maximum for the available providers, the Continue button stays disabled until the amount is adjusted.

Limits can differ by provider, by country, by fiat currency, and by payment method, so changing any of these may change the limits that apply.

Is Tether Wallet selling me crypto when I use Buy?

No. Tether Wallet does not sell digital assets to users.

Tether Wallet displays offers from third-party providers, ranks them, and lets the user choose one. The purchase contract is between the user and the selected provider. That provider onboards the user, performs identity verification where required, takes the payment, approves or rejects the purchase, and delivers the assets.

Tether Wallet does not hold the user's traditional money, process payments, store card details, or earn money from these purchases. The assets are delivered directly into the user's self-custody wallet, so Tether never takes custody of the funds.

What is the Tether.me BTC Faucet?

Some users refer to the Tether.me BTC Giveaway as the BTC Faucet. Both terms describe the same thing: a periodic distribution by Tether Data of very small amounts of Bitcoin (approximately US$0.10 worth per Prize, sent over the Lightning Network) to eligible Tether.me address holders.

The distribution is a temporary promotional campaign, announced by the @BTC account on X (formerly Twitter). Participants reply to a Giveaway post with a valid Tether.me address. Prizes are limited and one entry per person per Giveaway Period applies.

NOTE: No fixed end date has been announced. The amounts involved are intended to let people experience self-custody, not to provide meaningful monetary value.

Full official rules are available at " https://wallet.tether.io/giveaway-2026-rules/ ". See also the related articles on the Tether.me BTC Giveaway for eligibility and prize distribution.
